CIRENCESTER may be out of the Western Division title running, but they will have a massive say in where the trophy ends up.

The Centurions entertain leaders Redditch tomorrow and a home win would probably hand glory to local rivals Gloucester City.

Brian Hughes is not entertaining the idea of making it easy for the visitors in a bid to deny their neighbours the championship.

He said: "People have asked me whether we are going to bother trying and I think that's a disgraceful thing to say we have a certain amount of professional pride which means we will be trying our best to win.

"Redditch have beaten us twice this season and in fairness it would be nice to batter them."

Ciren can, in theory, still capture the runners-up spot providing they win and Gloucester lose against Ilkeston.

Hughes isn't holding his breath though.

He said:"Ilkeston were okay when they played us recently but I went to watch them lose against Cinderford in the week and thought is that the same team."

Suspended Darren Robison is Ciren's only absentee for the finale at the Corinium.

n WHILE their local rivals are involved in promotion pushes and relegation scraps, Swindon Supermarine have had their collective feet up for the past two months in the sanctuary of Western Division safety.

Marine have endured their own survival fights for the past two seasons but a good start to the campaign meant the South Marston side had enough points in the bag by March to prevent another struggle despite two managerial changes since the turn of the year.

So new boss Mark Collier has been able to assess the state of the squad without the need to churn out results and with one eye on next season.

He said: "I've managed to look at players in different positions in the last few weeks which has given me an indication of what they can do next season.

"I want most of these players to stay and I want to introduce perhaps five more because we've got a very small squad at the moment.

"I want to add some more experienced players to mix with that youth so we can continue to progress next season."

Marine wrap up their league programme with the visit of already-promoted Rugby United.

Alan Young is on holiday and misses out, while Dave Toomey is suffering with flu.

Steve Bennett (stomach bug) and Giles Harris (knee) are also doubtful but Barrie Matthews and Justin Miller return.
