Scores of youngsters from Wootton Bassett are getting in the mood for dancing. Some 150 children from the Maureen Cockram School of Dancing, based at St Bartholomew's Church Hall, are putting the final touches to their annual show.

And judging by the dress rehearsal it all bodes well for the real thing next weekend.

Children aged from three to 18 will tap and pirouette their way through Abba and Madonna hits, as well as classic tracks from Disney's Mary Poppins.

Principal Kate Lawrence, who took over from Maureen Cockram 12 years ago, said everyone had worked very hard since Christmas.

Kate, 42, said: "We are all really looking forward to the shows and everyone has put in a lot of effort.

"There are about 20 three-year-olds and they've all done brilliantly. My daughter Victoria, who is 12, is also taking part in the show."

The performances will be held at the Ridgeway School at 2.30pm and 7.30pm on Saturday, May 8, and at 6pm on Sunday, May 9.

Tickets cost £5, or £3 for concessions.
