SOMEONE in Swindon could be a multi-millionaire without even knowing it. A Lotto prize worth more than £14m has gone unclaimed since a double rollover draw on Wednesday, April 14.
The National Lottery has revealed that the winning ticket featuring numbers 1, 3, 22, 32, 38 and 44 was bought somewhere in Wiltshire.
The total waiting to be claimed is £14,262,546 and it is gaining interest at a rate of £1,500 every day.
It is by far the biggest prize ever to go unclaimed, and Lottery bosses are so desperate to trace the winner they have taken the unprecedented step of releasing details of the ticket after only 15 days.
"The ticket was bought in Wiltshire, but we don't know whether the winner is somebody living in the area or someone who could have come to town for the weekend," said a National Lottery spokeswoman.
Lottery prizes may be claimed up to 180 days after the draw, which means the holder of the £14m ticket has until 11pm on October 11 to claim their cash.
If the money is not claimed by the deadline it will be donated to good causes.
"We would prefer it if the winner came forward," said the spokeswoman.
"It would be heartbreaking if someone had that life-changing amount of money but never got to enjoy it.
"Even if you have checked once already it is worth double checking," she said. "It's worth five or 10 minutes to hunt it out."
If the prize is not claimed soon the Lottery will launch a big publicity campaign.
The largest amount to have gone unclaimed was £3 million.
Last weekend 58-year-old grandmother Sybil Lee, from Highworth, scooped £2.8 million in the draw.
Since the Lotto was launched as the National Lottery in 1994, there have been 11 jackpot winners in the Swindon postcode area.
