Bob the Builder and the Mayor of Swindon took time out of their busy schedules to meet some of Swindon's talented children and the people who care for them.
Mayor Derek Benfield (Lab, Covingham and Nythe) opened a display of children's work in the Brunel Centre.
The event to highlight childminders, also marked Save The Children Week, which ends today.
About 50 children took part in the Down My Street competition, creating drawings, collages and photographs of where they live.
Trio Childcare Connections, which is based at the Newburn Centre, in Rodbourne, supports childminders in town.
Jenny Logan, 37, a support worker at Trio said the children had worked hard to produce some wonderful pictures.
She said: "The idea was to encourage children to look at where they live and understand more about their surroundings.
"We have almost 400 childminders in Swindon and they all do a good job working flexible hours."
Mrs Logan, who used to be a childminder, added: "The mayor was fantastic. He spoke to the children and listened to their answers. He had a lot of time for everybody.
"There were a lot of prizes given out for much good work."
Representatives from Save The Children will be collecting donations today at the display.
