STUDENTS at Greendown School are learning about the world of work thanks to Lucent Technologies.
Scientists and engineers at the telecommunications company in Westlea, have been teaching year 10 students about life skills, such as how to write a CV and being interviewed.
About £3,000-worth of computer equipment, including monitors, printers and keyboards, have also been donated to the school.
Yesterday Lucent presented a cheque for nearly £2,000 too allow the school to buy an interactive white board.
Head of maths Gillian Sarjent said: "We are very grateful for this support. Besides offering financial help, staff at Lucent have given up their time to give our students a valuable insight into the world of work."
Combining work with fun, staff at Lucent has also played football against Greendown teachers.
Murray Ward, director of Lucent world web service, said: "We are a major employer in Swindon and wanted to do something to help the community and potential future employees. We have been very impressed with the quality of students at Greendown School and hope to build on this."
