I read with interest the proposal for the new park and ride near to Junction 15.

Firstly, I suppose the council would appreciate it if we all used public transport after all they do own the local bus company!

And when we all use the local buses what are they going to do with empty car parks? Dare I say, sell them off for a song. Or rent them out to the private sector to use as car pounds for when they have towed cars away as we have recently seen in the Charlie Brown car park on football days.

Call me cynical but the council has gone from putting trial bus lanes in to turning the roads into chaos.

Not many years ago you used to be able to drive around Swindon unhindered and, yes, there is more traffic on the road now. But we also have reduced road space and built I don't know how many new homes on the outskirts of town.

One saving grace of building the park and ride near to the new hospital may be that it will alleviate the parking problems at the new hospital.

It is about time the council woke up and realised that people want to use their cars and should look at an infrastructure that suits rather than trying to inconvenience people doing what they pay good money to do.

While on the subject of parking, I notice that the car park in Old Town Square that used to be free for two hours has now got a meter on it and now it is empty most of the day.

Presumably the people that used to park there are now parking outside other people's houses around the local area.

Swindon Council wake up and listen to the people that pay your wages we want to drive our cars.
