RAIN was pouring but spirits were soaring at the craft fair and fun day at the Croft Centre yesterday.

During the morning, funfair rides stood idle outside, with many visitors preferring the warm and dry of the centre's sport's hall.

Here visitors glanced over the arts and craft items for sale as well as browsing charity stands.

Among the most eye-catching items were those produced by Colin Timms.

Mr Timms, a pyrographer from Cricklade Road, burns pictures into wood, including those of steam engines, and nature scenes.

He said: "It certainly seems to get a lot of interest."

On the other side of the hall, there were screams of excitement from children enjoying the bouncy castle and having their faces painted.

Mum Toni Blackholly, 31 brought her three children, Ceris, three, Sinnon, seven and one-year-old Kye, from Covingham.

She said: "I come here every year. It is good fun."
