SWINDON Town Ladies fell at the first hurdle in the Ambassador South West Combination League Cup when they visited Clevedon Town and were beaten 6-0.

Within two minutes of the start the home side took the lead when Tracy McKinney's long ball forward caught the wind and sailed into the net.

Two goals in two minutes midway through the first half set Town further behind. Again Tracy McKinney found the net from distance and then Jodie Shepherd's long free kick dropped just inside the far post.

Town reorganised during the break. Hayley Sprules swung a cross into the Clevedon box that Jodie Shepherd did well to hook away.

In the 56th minute Katie Reid took a corner from the Clevedon right that was cleared as far as Charlie Grimes, who drove the ball into the net from the edge of the area.

In the 70th minute Katie Reid set up Karen Evans to score and six minutes from time Evans got No 6.

Town Reserves beat Wootton Bassett Town in the Wiltshire County League 4-3. Laura Morgan netted two and there were goals for Megan Brakes and Melisa Sartain.
