A MAN is unconscious in hospital after two men seriously assaulted him in a Gorse Hill shop.
The attack happened inside Handyman's General Stores and Off Licence, on the corner of Ferndale Road and Whitehouse Road, at about 3pm yesterday.
The victim, believed to be a shop customer, suffered very serious head injuries and was unconscious when police arrived.
He was taken to Great Western Hospital, where he remains in intensive care.
The two suspects were seen leaving the shop and running along Whitehouse Road towards Cockleberry roundabout.
They are described as being white and in their 20s or 30s. One was wearing a white T-shirt and had a brown ponytail. The other was wearing a red T-shirt.
Police have yet to establish a motive for the attack. They are appealing for witnesses to call them on 01793 528111 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
