Ref. 26992-31SIZZLING sausages and burgers could still be on the menu for those wanting a healthy diet this summer.

Eastbrook Farm, of Bishopstone, says sales of its "guilt-free" organic takeaways are booming.

And with the weather hotting up, owner Helen Browning is confident profits will mirror soaring temperatures.

In February, The Flying Pig an offshoot to the successful organic business was launched.

Using two specially equipped vans costing a total of £50,000 the farm has been visiting events across the country.

And according to Mrs Browning customers can't get enough of their tasty treats, which include 100 per cent beef burgers, sausages, steaks and bacon butties.

She said: "Earlier in the year when we were still putting the finishing touches to the concept, we visited a show and the people on the gate said 'here comes the flying pig'. We liked the name so we stuck with it."

Each product comes with a healthy salad, which ranges from a traditional mixed leaf to a more exotic avocado salad.

The rolls are also healthy made from healthy organic produce.

"I think a lot of people do not want the additives that go with many takeaways," said Mrs Browning.

"They want to get away from the e-numbers. But at the same time they want convenience food. We have filled that gap.

"Our customers like the idea that they know where the product comes from.

"There's a story behind each burger and people like that."

Mrs Browning revealed that she struck on the idea 10 years ago when the farm organised barbecues around Wiltshire.

She said: "There was a big demand even then but we did not have the time to explore the idea.

"Then three years ago we started to plot it and earlier this year we carried out some market research through a series of trial events."

Now with the summer here, Mrs Browning is planning to use the smaller van to rustle up cool smoothies and milkshakes.

People will next be able to sample the takeaways on June 12 and 13 at the Wroughton Steam Engine Rally.

The vans are also booked in to provide refreshments at a Cliff Richard concert next month.

And from June 23 wannabe chefs can buy the burgers straight from the supermarket to throw onto the barbecue.
