Ref. 30794-6SWINDON sizzled as the mercury soared yesterday.
The hottest day of the year saw temperatures hit 27C with glorious sunshine and blue skies.
Met Office forecaster Steve Randall said: "Swindon enjoyed some great weather with more than 12 hours of sunshine."
Children narrowly missed out on fun in the sun as schools started back following the half-term break.
But Martin Hodson of The Sun Inn, near Coate Water, said trade was booming.
He said: "We were packed all day as people came to enjoy the sun."
The warmest place was central London, which chalked up a sweltering 30C.
Similar weather is expected tomorrow, although temperatures here should be a degree or two cooler.
