Ref. 30789-14More people will lose their lives on a stretch of the M4 unless steel crash barriers are put up, a Brinkworth farmer fears.
John Brice says that since 2001 seven vehicles have been involved in separate accidents on a section of the westbound carriageway, two miles from Junction 16.
Last month 23-year-old father-to-be Luftim Toci was killed when his car came off the motorway and landed in Mr Brice's field.
The steel crash barrier that once ran along the length of the field was removed a few years ago and replaced with a wooden fence.
Now 52-year-old Mr Brice, of Hookers Gate Farm, is calling for the return of the barrier to protect motorists and his animals.
One of his cows was killed in last month's accident and two others were treated for injuries.
"It's a dangerous part of the road," he said. "I don't know why it's an accident blackspot. There's a slight bend in the road and maybe there's a camber.
"But unless something's done soon there will be another fatality."
Highways Agency spokesman Robin Miller said they were waiting for police to report on the cause of last month's accident.
"If the police feel there is a lack of barriers then we would act on that," he said.
