IT was with much interest that I read on Saturday, May 29, your article in which the main political parties explained their social service aims.
All I could do was sit back and say to myself, "what tosh."
I am a father of a 23-year-old male who suffers with Downs Syndrome and has learning disabilities who since leaving school at Uplands at 18 years of age has had no day care services from that day until this. Why?
Because all the political parties looking after social services keep saying there is nowhere in the borough for our son to attend and the social services does not have the budget for our sons needs.
At this moment in time our son spends 24/7 at home with his mother and myself except for Respite Care thanks to Oakhouse five nights each month providing they have the staff to cover.
Are the three main political parties all the same, just like the vulnerable and frail who will always be vulnerable and frail. Who is out there to help them? Our politicians?
