PUTTING their best feet forward are the children of Tommy's toddler group, in Tilshead.
The parent-and-toddler group was set up a year ago to provide a support network for mums and dads, as well as a place for children to play and meet new friends.
But the group is in desperate need of some new soft mats for the children to play on safely - and, rather than ask parents simply to cough up, they decided to hold a sponsored toddlerthon.
The last of the children who helped establish Tommy's have finally learned to take their first important steps, so, although they are still shaky on their feet, they are planning to walk half-a-mile round Tilshead, starting at the village hall at 2pm on Saturday, June 19.
Lisa Moneypenny, one of the event organisers, said: "Instead of just asking parents to contribute money for the mats, we decided it would be a great way to celebrate our first birthday to hold a toddlerthon.
"Some of the children are still a bit unsteady on their feet, so I'm sure there will be some bumps and bruises along the way!"
Anyone wanting to sponsor the children or to join Tommy's, which meets on Thursday afternoons at the St Thomas A' Becket School, should ring Darren or Teressa Player, on 01980 621474.
