ALAN DYTON will not leave his position as manager of Shrivenham even though he has been denied the chance of taking the club to the Hellenic Premier Division.

Shrivvy were overlooked for promotion by league officials after finishing third in Division One West, as fourth and fifth-placed Witney and Ardley got the nod instead.

The failure to have a letter sanctioning proposed floodlights from the council proved the club's downfall and many tipped a frustrated Dyton to walk away after the off-field developments struggled to keep pace with those on the pitch.

But, after talks with the committee Dyton has vowed to stay and lead Shrivenham to the top flight next term.

He said: "My initial reaction to missing out on promotion was that perhaps we as a club had not done enough to ensure ground improvements were in place.

"I have met with the the club and sorted out these issues. I believe that they are still as enthusiastic as they were when I came to the club.

"The club understand that I want to manage in the best league against the best teams.

"The ground improvements will continue as soon as we have permission and the club have assured me that the ambition is still strong.

"The target strongly remains Premier football. I will remain in charge next season and start the process of trying to build a squad capable of automatic promotion."
