BOTH sides were both full of confidence following recent results and after their superb batting performance a week earlier, Bassett had no hesitation in batting when they won the toss.
After a steady first four overs, with runs easy to come by and few problems, Chahal and Walker were both out in the fifth over, leaving Bassett on 16-2.
Leach and Clarke set about rebuilding and again looked comfortable, pushing the score to 33-2 from 10.
The bowling had been tidy, if not overly threatening, but Bassett seemed insistent at playing rash shots and four wickets fell in the next 10 overs to put Biddestone in complete control at 62-6 from 19.
The next four overs saw Clarke and Twine start to rebuild, and they quickly added 25 to the total, but when Clarke was adjudged lbw, off an inside edge, the game was all but over.
Twine (40 not out) and Lancaster (13no) put on 36 for the last wicket to ensure Bassett used up their overs, but 141-9 never looked like enough.
Bassett were determined to try and restore some pride, but a steady start from Biddestone, 25-0 from 10, made it look as though any hope was disappearing quickly.
But Stevens picked up three wickets in two overs, and when he got a fourth in the 17th over Biddestone were 46-4.
Biddestone showed a few nerves, but captain Perry (68 not out), looked more assured with every ball he faced, and ground down the Bassett attack. Biddestone won at a canter by six wickets in the 33rd over.
