WILTSHIRE CRICKET LEAGUE: GREAT Bedwyn continue to set the pace after they travelled to Calne and gained a 44 run win.

With Andy Turnell (34) and Alan Tuttle (32) top scoring Great Bedwyn made 185 all out, with Dan Knights, 3-49 in 12 overs, the pick of the Calne bowlers.

Chris Blundy then took 5-42 in 13.5 overs as despite a solid 66 from John Waggins, Calne were bowled out for 141.

At Nationwide House the two sides seeking their first win met and the home side prevailed over visitors Box.

Mark Flay, with 5-27 in 13 overs, was mainly responsible for seeing Box collapse to 107 all out. Mark Vincent's unbeaten 61 then set up a seven wicket victory for Nationwide with ten overs to spare.

Westinghouse bounced back after last week's setback with an eight wicket home win against Collingbourne. They bowled the visitors out for 193, with Ghyas Khan contribuitng an unbeaten 114.

Chris Ferris (93 not out) and John Peters (56) then saw Westinghouse home with 11 balls to spare.

Purton entertained Bath Civil Service and the visitors made 177-6, with Chris Addey (46) and John Fair (43 not out) the major contributors. 177-6. Despite 61 from Danny Dunn and 34 from Dave Miles, Purton then fell seven runs short as they ended at 170-9.

Division Two

COOPER-AVON Tyres picked up their first win of the season as they defeated hosts Buscot Park by 94 runs.

Thanks mainly to Duncan Wilde (89) and a massive 70 extras they reached 255-5 and then restricted Buscot in reply to161-7, with Neil Phillips (48 not out) top scoring.

Lechlade remain unbeaten following a seven wicket success at home to Sutton Veny. The visitors scored 168-9 with Richard Mee (56) and Rob Robson (53) the major contributors as Martin Southall, took 3-30 in 14 overs for Lechlade attack. Craig Dainty (68 not out) and Yakki Hassan (34) then set up the home side's win with nearly three overs remaining.

Swindon Civil Service lost for the first time, going down by seven wickets at home to Spye Park. Mike Giddings made a solid 102 to help Civil Service to 186-6. In response John Bathe made 98 not out as Spye Park reached the target with 16 balls to spare.

Burbage and ER still seek a first win after losing at Urchfont. The hosts made 218-8, with Mike Brooks making 78 and Mark Bateman 51. For Burbage, Terry Strong took 4-35 in 11 overs. Burbage were then bowled out 44th over for 167, with Ron Barker (47) the top scorer, as Wade Williams picked up 3-36 in 12 overs for Urchfont.

Seagry followed up last week's success with a comprehensive ten wicket win over visiting Beanacre. The visitors made 179-7, with Dave Gilbert (41) top scoring, as William Tidmarsh took 2-45 in 15 overs and Ian Thurgood 2-38 in eight. Alex Fereday (106 not out) and Adam Lawrence (64 not out) then knocked the runs off in 25.5 overs. Fereday's century came in 78 balls, his second 50 taking just 23.

Division Three

AVEBURY maintained their unbeaten record with a five wicket win at Cherhill.

Dominic Fry took 3-29 in 14.2 overs as Cherhill were bowled out for 138. Steady batting then saw Avebury home with just two overs to spare as Ben Webber took 2-29 in eight overs and Gerry Vaughan 1-32 in 12.

Both Moredon Royal Oak and Swindon 3rds gained their first successes of the season.

Moredon were bowled out at home for 156 with Mo Farouk (45) top scoring as Tim Thatcher took 6-42 in 14 overs for visiting Highworth. Luke Beaver made 48 in reply, but he had little support as Highworth were dismissed for 126, Mat Evans taking 4-39 in 11 overs and Mo 3-32 in 13.

At Lambourn, Swindon scored 155 all out with Phil Laggat (37) and Richard Razzard (39) top scoring, as Steve Mundy took 5-39 in his 15 overs. Razzard, 3-12 in five overs, and Chris Mabberley, 3-34 in 15, were then mainly responsible for bowling Lambourn out for 128 in the 42 overs, as 14-year-old Daniel Hawkins top scored with 28.

Blunsdon's good start to the year continued as they travelled to Wroughton Wranglers and gained an eight wicket win. Wroughton made 197-8 with Mike Evans (56 not out), Steve Redfern (47) and John Grainger (42) heading the scores. Dan Fisher, with 4-64, and Kevin Aubrey, 3-34, were the pick of the visitors' bowlers. John Hancock (85 not out) and Chris Hambling (77) then led Blunsdon to victory with five overs to spare.

Wanborough entertained Heytesbury and scored 165-9, with Dave Haydon (47) and Tom Clinning (26) the top scorers. Rob Barnes took 5-33 in 12 overs, including a hat-trick. Justin Wagstaff (68) and Olly Stephens (41 not out) then helped Heytesbury to a four wicket victory despite Andy Thompson's economical spell of 3-39 in his 15 overs.

Division Four

WESTBURY 3rds still seek a first win as they lost by 66 runs at home to Bathford.

Bathford made 230-6 and then bowled Westbury out for 164, with Phil Mead (51) top scoring.

The scheduled match between the leaders Corsham 3rds and Keevil has been rearranged for the end of the season, which gave Bradford Town the opportunity to take over the leadership. With Tony Laws taking 4-39 in nine overs and Sam Edwards improving on last week's five-wicket haul with 6-19 in nine overs, their hosts Dauntsey Gentlemen were bowled out for 63. Bradford went on to win by nine wickets.

Wilcot made 220-6 at home to Mildenhall with Steve O'Donnell (58 not out), Graham Staplin (41) and Richard Abbott (42) top scoring. Jeremy Lovelock, with 4-62 in 15 overs, was the pick of the Mildenhall bowlers. Martin Cook, 3-16 in 12 overs, and Graham Smith, 2-22 in 15 overs, then helped bowl Mildenhall out for 109.

Swindon Litten Tree's good start continued as they raced to their highest ever league score of 272-3 at the expense of visitors Coates. Kevin Crook (107 not out) and Mark Brown (80) set them on the way with an opening stand of 150. Coates in reply closed on a respectable 180-9 as Tim Sanderson (88) top scored. For Litten Tree Mike Leach took 3-19 in nine overs and Matty Bennett 3-55 in six.

Division Five

UNITED Churches and Nationwide House 2nds remain unbeaten.

Nationwide remain top as they made 232-7 at Devizes 3rds, with Andy Pryor (91) top scoring. Devizes replied with 194-6, with Tim Smith (77) and 16-year-old Barney Reid (55) top scoring.

United Churches entertained Westinghouse 2nds and scored 218-9 with Andrew Foster making 79 and Mark Oliver 36. Foster then completed a fine all round performance as he took 7-53 in 11.3 overs in a Westinghouse reply of 164 all out. Richard Toghill made 63 and Chris Grace 36.

Purton 2nds raced to their highest League total as they plundered 299-6 off hosts Burbage and ER 2nds. Pete Allen (106), Steve Collier (69) and Roy Carroll (31) led the scoring. Graham Dunn then took 5-46 in 14.4 overs as Burbage were bowled out for 102, this after Bob Cady (39) and Barney Reid (31) had opened with a 71 run partnership.

Warminster 3rds also achieved a record league total when they made 313-4 against visiting Marshfield 2nd. Garry Pritchett (129) and S Farhaz (103 not out) headed the run riot. John Keenan, with 3-34 in nine, overs then helped bowl Marshfield out for 162, Dave Hill top scoring with 60.

Division Six

WITH the top three sides all winning it is as you were in this division.

Beehive Bradford bowled visiting All Cannings out for 161, with Shaun Brown taking 6-30 in nine overs and Andy Goddard 2-36 in 8.5 as Andy Legge (50) top scored for the visitors. Graham Fone (56 not out), Mike Spong (37) and Adrian Day (35) then helped Beehive to a four wicket victory with 13 overs to spare. The pick of the All Cannings bowlers were John Selby, with 2-24, and Rob Holman, 1-24.

Nettleton bowled their hosts Goatacre 3rds out for 120 of which Andy Donnegan made 52. Ian Sandell, 4-26 in eight overs and Alan Cousins. 4-25 in 12, were the pick of the visitors' bowlers. Ian Witt (22), Rod Pratt (31) and Pete Fincher (29) then led Nettleton to a five wicket victory. Donnegan completed a good afternoon with figures of 3-37 in 14 overs.

Calne 2nds gained a tremendous six wicket win at Bradford Town 2nds. Bradford were in trouble at 17-3, but a superb innings of 120 from Dave Edwards, backed up by Nick Gerrish (24) and Kevin Collins (33) saw them to 242-8. Calne then knocked the runs off with eight overs to spare, thanks to a rapid 109 from Will Ventor, aided by Bob Holcombe (28 not out) and Dan Shuker (31 not out)

Wootton Bassett 3rds won the battle of the winless sides as they gained a six wicket success at Box 2nds.

Box scored 171-8 with Alan Joy top scoring with 74. John Millington (53 not out) and Mike Yeldon (48) saw Bassett to victory with 15 overs to spare.

At Chippenham 3rds visiting Lacock found runs hard to get against some accurate bowling and closed on 133-8, with Clive Harding making a patient 36. Steve Merryweather took 3-29 in 11 overs and Chris Day 3-26 in 15. Chippenham then knocked off the runs for the loss of two wickets thanks to Richard Harrison (50 not out) and Aaron Merryweather (34 not out).

Division Seven

CHERHILL 2nds remain on top despite losing their first game at Collingbourne 2nds.

Collingbourne scored 182-9 with Dave Gale making 49, Owen Seherd 39 and Rob Stamp 23 and Dave Hewings taking 5-56.

Cherhill were then bowled out for 129, Malcolm Parrack (31) and Geoff Howard (25) top scoring as Gordon Mackrell took 3-26 and John Aitkin 3-29.

Trowbridge A maintained their challenge following their four wicket win at Bath Civil Service 2nds. Civil Service scored 185 all out with Ben Price (61), Nick Clifford (25) and Adam Carlin (33) the major contributors. Steve Chalke, 4-52 in 14 overs, and Vinny Elliott, 4-32 in 11.2, were among the wickets for Trowbridge. Alex Jefferies (57 not out), Elliott (33 not out), Dave Gibson (25) and Neil Gooden (25) then steered Trowbridge to their victory with five overs to spare. For the home side Rob Matthews took 3-70 in 10.3 overs and Richard Cope 3- 38 in nine.

Potterne 2nds have yet to win as they lost at home to Corsham 4th by 52 runs. Thanks to Hugh Elias (51) and and Richard Venerd (24), Corsham reached 175-9 as Kevin Gover took 2-38 and Andy Sainsbury 3-37. Despite the efforts of Ashley Wrench (55 not out), Potterne were then bowled out for 123.

Marshfield 3rds scored 233-7 at Beanacre 2nds, with John Bishop making 112 not out and Garry Hall and unbeaten 56.

Beanacre were then bowled out for 123 in reply.

At Cooper-Avon Tyres 2nds, Gordon Mitchell (50) and Max Heaton (45) helped visiting Daunysey Gentlemen 2nds to 173-4. Cooper-Avon, with Johnathan Helps making 45, Chris Stearn 42, Jack Woodward 33 and Andy Hillman 32, then gained a six wicket victory with 15 balls to spare.

Division Eight

CHIPPENHAM 4ths and Biddestone 3rds remain unbeaten at the top of the division.

Chippenham made 188 at Bathford 2nds, with with Asad Quershi (25) and Phil Triner (25) top scoring as Luke Cousins took 3-33 in 12 overs and Simon Machin 4-41 in eight. Bathford in their reply came desperately close to a win, closing at 184-7 with Mike Noel (43) and Darren Sutton (39) the major contributors. Asad took 4-65 in 14 overs and Majid Quershi 2-50 in 15.

Biddestone 3rds bowled out previously unbeaten Swindon 4ths for just 106 with George Harper, 6-28 in 15 overs, doing the damage. Darrell Smith (63 not out) and Neil Millard (31 not out) then knocked off the runs in 25 overs without loss.

Devizes 4ths gained their second win of the season and in the course raced to their highest ever league score of 275-7 at the expense of their hosts Blunsdon 2nds. Colin Pitman (67), Dave Flower (65), Graham Pearce (36) and Pete Ashman (31) headed the run feast. Paul Pitman then took 5-20 in 10 overs as Blunsdon were bowled out for 96, Luke Ambridge (21) and Richard Smith (29) the top scorers.

United Churches 2nds scored 193-3 at Highworth 2nds, thanks mainly to Dan Hunt (49) and Mike Offer (71 not out). For Highworth Andy Firkin bowled well, without success to end with 0-37 in his 15 overs. Richard Martin had better luck for Churches, taking 5-25 in 10 overs as Highworth were dismissed for 150, Craig Bell top scoring with 62.

Warminster 4ths were bowled out for just 71 at All Cannings 2nds, Steve Loggan (33) top scoring as Garry Mansell took 3-17 in five overs and George Hargreaves 3-34 in eight. Mansell's 43 set All Cannings on the way to an eight wicket win.
