A DETERMINED fightback was not enough to prevent defeat for the Wiltshire 50+ side against a strong Devon outfit at Sandford.
Devon made the visitors field first, and on an excellent batting wicket soon set about the Wilt-shire bowlers.
Bob Macey was the undoubted star, making a chanceless century as his side reached 278-2 off their 45 overs.
In reply, Wiltshire got off to the worst possible start, losing two early wickets.
Impressive knocks from Peter Sadler, 76, Geoff Edwards, 52, and Gwyn Blenkinsop, 45 not out, gave them some encouragement, but their respectable total of 203-5 was still well short of the target set by their hosts.
