BATTING first at Sutton Scotney's Winchester ground, South Newton were reduced to 18-4 in no time with Richie Cole, 10-2-20-3, doing the damage with pace and bounce.
When Stuart Partridge, 26, was joined by Nick Moulding, 37, things steadily improved.
Moulding had further assistance from Tom Shepherd, 16, and Des Jeffery, 11, before John Fradgley, 4-37, wrapped up the innings at 128 all out.
In reply Sutton were also troubled by the extreme bounce variability and lost three early wickets.
At 61-3, recovery had been achieved, but too slowly.
Cole and Rose, both 24, were pegged by Ian Huntley, 12-5-21-2, and the injured Des Jeffery, 12-5-22-3.
In the gloom, Fradgley's valiant assault on Mould-ing, 9-4-28-3, was brought to an end and Scotney finished 114-9.
