TICKETS are selling fast for one of the most star-studded sporting occasions ever to take place in south Wiltshire.
Next month sees South Wilts entertain an all-star Lashings side of past and present test players including Richie Richardson, Mark Waugh, Phil Tufnell and Harbhajan Singh.
Organisers were this week buoyed by the news that the event, on Sunday, July 4, has now secured a major sponsorship deal.
Chutneys Indian takeaway in Est-court Road, Salisbury, are to help cover the costs of staging the match, so that all profits can go straight into the Wilton Road-based club's pavilion fund.
Chutneys owner Atiqul Hoque said: "We are proud to sponsor what will be one of the biggest sporting events of the year in Salisbury and hope our contribution will help make it an enjoyable family day out for everyone."
The 40-over game starts at 2pm and a carnival atmosphere is guaranteed with family entertainment planned to run right into the evening. Players will be on hand throughout the day to sign autographs and have photographs taken.
Tickets are £6 (adults) and £3 (students and senior citizens), with accompanied under 16s admitted free.
