Wiltshire police officers will don their training shoes today for a run across the county to raise money for children's charity When You Wish Upon A Star.
A total of 30 running enthusiasts from the constabulary, including the Chief Constable, Dame Elizabeth Neville, and her two chief officers, will take part in the national police sponsored run, Operation Run For a Child.
Wiltshire police have to cover a total of 25 miles in one-mile legs between Chilton Foliat and South Cerney.
Other members of staff will be offering moral support by keeping the official runners company, acting as reserves in case of illness or injury, or travelling in the support vehicle.
Nationally the run started at Land's End on Sunday and ends at John O'Groats on June 19, covering a total of 3,000 miles.
In Wiltshire, Dame Elizabeth has the pressure of running the final leg, and will pass the baton to Superintendent Sally Crook and Chief Inspector David Peake of the Gloucestershire Constabulary at around 1pm.
The run is organised by Greater Manchester Police and needs all the participants to keep to a pace of around nine minutes per mile.
A spokesman for Wiltshire Constabulary said: "This is unlikely to be a problem for the Wiltshire chief officers, who list their sporting and athletic interests as rowing, horse-riding, circuit training, gym work, cycling and, of course, running."
