A MAN has appeared in court following the car crash which claimed the life of 19-year-old Matthew Styles.
Gary Huckin, 35, of Naunton Road, Walcot, is charged with causing death by dangerous driving, leaving the scene of an accident and failing to report an accident.
He was remanded in custody until June 14, when he will appear for a preliminary hearing at Swindon Crown Court.
Mr Styles lived in Whiteman Street with his mother, Anne. He was a rear seat passenger in a Ford Mondeo Estate car that crashed on Pinehurst Road on Sunday evening.
Another passenger, Mickey McCann, who is in his mid-30s, suffered severe injuries as a result of the crash and is still recovering in hospital.
Feelings in Pinehurst, where the crash happened, have been running high, with floral tributes being placed at the scene of the crash and residents at one point coning off part of the road near the scene and observing a minute's silence.
