GAZETTE & HERALD: Carpenter Chris Richards has raised more than £900 for charity by walking 85 miles along the Ridgeway.
Mr Richards, of Back Road, Calne, walked from Ivinghoe Beacon to Overton to raise money for the Motor Neurone Disease Association.
Carrying a tent and a backpack weighing 45lbs, he camped out along the way. Mr Richards said he wanted to raise awareness of the association, which does not receive any Government funding.
He said: "The walk has renewed my faith in the kindness of people and I was impressed by the generosity of the complete strangers who supported me."
For example, at the Plough at Cadsden, where he camped on the first night, locals secretly had a whip-round and raised £50 to go towards his cause.
