Councillor Richard Allen plans to hold regular surgeries for voters in East Ward, Marlborough.

Coun Allen, who was elected on to the town council in May last year, will be holding his first surgery on June 26 in the council chamber at the town hall from 9am to noon.

Town councillors hold monthly surgeries on the first Saturday of each month, 10am to 11am in the library in the High Street.

However Coun Allen, who is regarded as something of a maverick by some of his colleagues, has decided to hold his own surgeries.

He said: "I would like to have closer contact with the electors in my ward.

"If people in the East Ward have any problems they can come along and tell me about them.

"I want people to let me know whether I am doing the job right or wrong, any improvements they would like to see in the town or things they would like to see happen."

He said that any one who cannot get along to his surgery can ring him on (01672) 511184 in the evenings.
