INDIAN star Kunal More led Winsley to victory with an unbeaten century on Saturday despite only arriving in the country at 6pm the night before.

More's arrival led to a dramatic change in fortune for the team who had lost all three of their previous league games this season.

With support from Richard Witts and 15-year-old Charlie Holton, Winsley reached their victory target of 188 with eight wickets and several overs to spare.

Having batted first in every previous game, Winsley opted for a run chase after winning the toss.

With 20 overs gone visitors Portishead had been restricted to just 46-0 and although they did rally this start proved crucial for their opponents.

South African all-rounder Brian Voke top scored on 75 as his team reached 187-5 while Robbie Cross was the pick of the Winsley attack with 2-30 from his 12 overs.

More opened the batting with Witts and once they had set a platform Portishead never looked like stopping the pursuit.

Captain John Spencer said: "I don't think Kunal got a lot of sleep the night before, but he was brilliant for us on Saturday.

"It was a good track and if we wanted to we could have batted all day. Their overseas player (Voke) was their only threat with the ball.

"We are up and running now and hopefully we'll get another win on Saturday."
