WILTSHIRE play their first home game since the mid-1990s this weekend when they take on Cornwall in the Minor Counties Championship at Trowbridge.
The three day game starts on Sunday.
The County Ground belongs to Wiltshire, but poor facilities there have forced the county to avoid the venue for almost 10 years and play at other club grounds.
Now after years of hard work, led by Trowbridge cricket club chairman Brian Scrine, the pavilion and ground are back up to scratch for hosting the county team.
In the past the ground was graced by stars such as Sachin Tendulkar and Viv Richards and Scrine hopes the Cornwall match will help rekindle some of its reputation.
He said: "It is a proud moment for the club and a lot of hard work and fundraising has gone into this, but whether people will appreciate it we will have to wait and see.
"It would nice to see a few people up there, but the forecast is that the good weather will change."
Wiltshire wicketkeeper and Corsham skipper Neil Shardlow is delighted to be heading back to the County Ground.
He said: "I've only played a handful of games at Trowbridge and I know that they have done a lot of work there.
"They did struggle for a number of years, but to get the ground back in the Minor Counties championship is a credit to them. I've got a number of friends there so it should be nice to go back again."
Wiltshire match manager Brian White said: "We are pleased to be back because it's our home ground. They've done a marvellous job in doing up the pavilion."
"At one point the umpires were standing in a pool of water in their changing rooms. Brian Scrine and his team deserve a lot of credit."
The Wiltshire team includes a debutant in Devizes opening bowler James Ashford-Brown while Corsham batsmen Steve Perrin is making his 99th championship appearance.
Captain Russell Rowe should be fit to captain the side after being taken ill during the previous match with Herefordshire.
Corsham all-rounder Richard Foley returns after a seven year absence.
He replaces injured vice-captain Jason Searle.
White said: "Jason was injured at the weekend so we were looking for another spinner to come in. Richard has done pretty well at Corsham this season and we're hoping he'll do the same for us."
Also missing for Wiltshire are Kevin Blackburn and Chris Budd, due to teaching commitments, while former England bowler Richard Illingworth is umpiring the Scotland against Holland match.
White believes Cornwall will pose his team some real problems as they seek to build on their opening draw with Hertfordshire.
He said: "Cornwall look very strong on their scorecard. They have batsmen like Ryan Driver who has played for Worcestershire and Lancashire and David Roberts who played for Northants.
"Gary Thomas, who has opened their batting for 10 years, will also be a threat. Their batting looked pretty strong, but their bowling may be a little worse."
Wiltshire team v Cornwall: Russell Rowe (South Wilts, captain), James Ashford-Brown (Devizes), Richard Bates (Chippenham), Richard Bedbrook (Beckenham), Michael Coles (Bridgwater), Richard Foley (Corsham), Kevin Nash (Bashley), Steve Perrin (Corsham), Baqar Rizvi (Spencer), Neil Shardlow (Corsham), Ollie Smith (Old Hill), 12th man Jon Chandler (South Wilts).
