WHAT a total mess some of our public open spaces in west Wiltshire look this year.
Put it out to tender and save money we are told. The truth of this is reduce the workforce, make them work much harder and let the district go to rack and ruin.
On our housing estates the grassed areas are a total disgrace. At Eden Grove, Whitley, grass reached two feet high.
The West Wiltshire Housing Society have now cut the area but say the area isn't theirs.
West Wiltshire District Council tells me it is the job of the housing society to cut. And to be fair to the council WWHS did agree this last year. We had it in writing. They don't even know who owns what.
Even the council office's grassed areas maintained by English Landscapes are a disgrace.
In many cases anyone from outside of the district would think they are driving through the deepest jungle. This is clearly a case of you get what you pay for.
