THE past weekend I have been to Paris and Normandy for the anniversary of D-Day which was tiring but very enjoyable excepting for once incident.
We were warned and expected very strict security but didn't expect it to go as far as it did. Early on Saturday evening we attempted to go into the British cemetery in Bayeux only to be stopped by troops telling us heads of states would be arriving in about 15 hours and no one allowed in.
This meant two of our party, Fred Fredlea and son Lee from Trowbridge, had travelled to see father's and grandfather's grave stone in vain.
Although they had identity surely in their case they could have been allowed in with supervision; so grandson still hasn't seen the grave.
