15287/5MORE people than ever flocked to the Holt Music Festival at the weekend. Over 800 visitors turned up, raising about £4,000 for the village hall.

Jo Hopkins from the village hall committee said: "It was a very good day. All the bands were very good, some louder than others, but all good.

"It isn't a jazz festival or a folk festival, it is a mix to cater for everybody."

Particularly popular, especially with the younger festival goers was Westbury singer, MiMi.

Also on the bill was Bris-tolian singer and raconteur Fred Wedlock, who has been performing in folk clubs and concerts for 40 years.

Another style of music was provided by eight-piece band Soul Commotion, who performed a selection of well-known soul classics.

Other performers included The Zig Zag Band, Howling at the Moon and Holt Morris.

Refreshments, stalls, competitions, tractor and fairground rides and magic and Punch and Judy shows kept the children entertained, while a bar was provided for adults.

Holt village hall is a registered charity and the money to run it is raised through events held throughout the year. These include a treasure hunt and barbecue on July 17 and a flower and vegetable sale and a jumble sale in September.
