EASTCOTT; LIB DEM HOLD: EASTCOTT retained its status as a Lib Dem stronghold, courtesy of former mayor Stan Pajak.
His 46 per cent of the vote was down on last year's total.
However, it was still more than twice the proportion of the poll secured by nearest rival Brenda Craven.
Coun Pajak said he was pleased with the result and promised to continue working for all in his ward, irrespective of their allegiances.
Coun Pajak has had a high profile throughout his tenure as a councillor, chiefly due to his championing of green issues. He is also a prominent member of Swindon's extensive Polish community.
During his term as mayor, which ended last year, he enthusiastically embraced duties ranging from dressing up to play a panto ugly sister to opening an adventure playground by being the first to try the death slide.
