JEREL IFIL and his agent will meet Mark Devlin for talks early next week after Watford accepted Town's bid for the defender.

However, the club's chief executive, while positive, is cautioning supporters not to assume that Ifil is a 'done deal' just yet.

Ifil has told the Evening Advertiser that he would be delighted to make a permanent switch to Wiltshire and the Hornets' decision to accept Town's five-figure offer has brought his dream a step closer.

Watford may have agreed Town's bid, £70,000 with a sell-on clause according to the Hornets, but it would be wrong to assume the beast's return is signed, sealed and delivered.

Mark Devlin said: "Our offer for Jerel has been accepted by the Watford board and the next step is to meet with the player and his representative in the next few days.

"We know Jerel has enjoyed his spells here over the last couple of seasons working with Andy King and from what I hear, he has indicated that he would like to return.

"Hopefully personal terms can be agreed and Jerel will be added to Andy's squad.

"However, it would be wrong to say it is a done deal at this stage."

It is unclear just how long a deal the 21-year-old will be offered.

Ifil feels a move to the County Ground will allow him to perform for a manager who trusts his strengths and is prepared to work on his weaknesses.

Watford boss Ray Lewington has made his thoughts on Ifil clear.

He said: "I just feel in terms of pace and power he has fantastic natural ability but what concerns me the higher up the game you play, the more you have to think about the game and not rely on pace and power.

"That is what lets him down, he does not see things quickly enough as yet. He is eye-catching with pace and power but he sometimes has problems."

to be resolved, with the striker waiting to speak again to Andy King, but Devlin has been able to shed a little more light on the Leigh Mills situation.

He said: "There has been no further offer from Spurs at this stage.

"Leigh is able to sign for Tottenham on July 1 if that is what he wishes to do.

"In that instance the matter will be resolved by a tribunal."

The club are still awaiting a response from Stefani Miglioranzi who is currently holidaying in Brazil.

The midfielder is thought to have attracted the interest of at least one club in a higher division.

Before departing for his break however, the former Portsmouth man said: "The fact that the gaffer is trying to keep the team together bodes well for next season."

Town's fixtures for their League One 2004-5 campaign will be announced on Thursday June 24.

Town will have two big screens in the Winners Lounge showing England's clash with France tomorrow.

The doors open at 7pm, with the big kick-Off at 7.45pm. Places are limited to 500 on a first come, first served basis.
