POLICE are appealing to anyone who might have received a visit from three men posing as water board officials over the past week to contact them.
This follows the arrest of three men in the north of the county on Wednesday, following a spate of distraction incidents, one in Durrington and two others in the Pewsey area.
In each case, three men were seen in the vicinity and a small red car was also spotted.
Just after 2.30pm last Wednesday, three men travelling in a small red Citroen car called at the home of an elderly person in Elizabeth Road, Durrington, claiming they were from the water board.
A search of the property was made during the visit but it is thought nothing was stolen.
However, less than an hour later, a 77-year-old man in the Pewsey area had a "significant amount" of cash stolen after he received a visit from three men claiming to be from the water board and driving a small red car.
Later, a small red car was spotted driving erratically between Marlborough and Swindon, with the occupants throwing items out of the window.
The police were alerted and the car was eventually stopped and the three men arrested.
A police spokesman at Salisbury said they would like to hear from anyone in south Wiltshire who might have received a visit from three men posing as water board officials and driving a small red car.
