FUEL FOR THOUGHT: Nationwide's divisional director of personnel and development Jeremy del Strother said: "The possible fuel crises could have impact on employees' ability to get to work.
"Depending on how the situation develops, we will take a common sense approach to help minimise the impact on the business and on employees.
"Nationwide already has policies in place which encourages car sharing and the use of public transport among employees. This helps reduce pressure on our car parking space and also reduces impact on the environment.
"Should a fuel crisis develop we will take further action to encourage employees where possible, to share cars or use alternative public transport.
"Where appropriate, some employees may be able to work from home. It is our priority to maintain good customer service and we will encourage employees to help out where needs require."
