BUYING a house with a friend could be one way onto the property ladder for first time buyers, according to a new website called First Rung Now.
The most recent report by Hometrack reveals the average price for a property in Swindon is now £131,000, with house prices still rising.
Terraced houses, which are popular with first time buyers, make up two thirds of the housing stock in town and are now selling at £120,000 on average.
And with average salaries not being high enough for people to afford these prices, one company is advocating buying with friends.
First Rung Now claims sharing the deposit and mortgage payments allows people to make an investment rather than paying rent.
firstrungnow.com offers advice on costs, technicalities, and the legalities of joint ownership.
