A CENTRE specialising in women's health needs to raise £11,000 to maintain services this year and is appealing for sponsorship.

National Lottery funding for the Well Woman centre ended in March. The management committee has drawn up a three year plan which will use reserves to fund some core costs.

But the charity still needs additional funds and is appealing for donations.

Some progress has been made. Funding from the Swindon Marriott Charity Ball will buy a blood testing machine and money raised by JJB Fitness Centre will fund a urine analysis machine. Other donations have come from Health Screen, Tyco Electronics, the Lawn Community Association, Halcrow Group and Mactaggart Third.

People connected with the centre, at the Health Hydro in Milton Road, are also undertaking fundraising activities.

The centre is organising a sponsored ramble, a raffle, shopping trip and a quiz night.

Chairwoman Marlene Wheeler said: "Small sums add up, and since we have made our financial position a little clearer to clients their donations have risen."

Anybody who feels they can help should call 01793 511064 or go to the annual general meeting on Friday, July 9 at 12.30pm.
