A CHARITY which sells second hand furniture has introduced a discount card for people on low incomes.
Top Drawer, based in Sussex Square, Walcot, supplies more than 1,500 homes each year with large items such as three piece suites, wall units, beds, fridges and washing machines. All prices are discounted often by 50 per cent for people who receive key benefits.
To get a discount card, clients and potential customers should go along to the shop with proof of address and proof that they receive any one of nine types of benefits.
Someone in the shop will take their photo and make the card at the shop. Top Drawer manager Mike Dilly said: "It's all about respect. We want every shopper to enjoy shopping at Top Drawer. Anyone can come and shop here, so why should someone who qualifies have to show their book every time they buy?"
The charity also helps the environment by finding new homes for 200 tons of donated items a year which otherwise might have to be destroyed.
Anybody interested in donating items is asked to call into the Sussex Square shop or telephone 01793 536613.
