IT is with the utmost gratitude that I put pen to paper to the young male driver, who decided to "teach me a lesson" along Pinehurst Road.
As most residents of Swindon are aware this road contains some quite exquisite traffic calming measures which, as illustrated by the horrific accident last Sunday evening, must be treated carefully and with respect.
After giving way to the oncoming traffic and waiting for the road to clear, I pulled out and around one such set of traffic calming.
How foolish of me not to expect a young man, in a rather attractive red motor vehicle, to be speeding along a road where another young man was tragically killed not so very long ago.
How foolish of me was it to expect this other law-abiding road user to be adhering to the speed limit and so allowing me the time to correct my position to the left?
Not only did he deliberately increase his speed to try and cause me to be stranded on the wrong side of the road and so create another accident, he also then swerved his car towards me because I succeeded in being able to get out of his way.
I have lived in this town my entire life, as have several generations of my family before me.
I am proud of Swindon for helping me become the person I am today.
I am law abiding, tax paying and incredibly grateful to those in the town who are willing to strive for a standard of living that we and the generations to come, can be proud of.
So, it is with great thanks that I write for my "lesson."
You see, I had my ten-year-old twin daughters in the car with me at the time and you only succeeded in teaching them about the tremendous number of morons who not only live in this town but also go out of their way to put the rest of us in danger.
I only hope, for your family's sake, that you grow up quickly before any more tears are shed at road traffic scenes.
