Anna Marsden, director of the Community Foundation for Wiltshire & Swindon, has been awarded an OBE for services to the community.
She became the first director of the foundation when it was established in 1991 and has since gone on to see it grow into one of the county's biggest charities.
Ms Marsden, who is due to retire in July, said: "I am amazed and delighted to be awarded an OBE. It underlines the strength of the Community Foundation and I hope all the team - past and present, staff and trustees - will feel part of it belongs to them.
"Working to develop a community foundation in Wiltshire and Swindon has been an extremely stimulating, if challenging, role."
The foundation aims to help disadvantaged people throughout the county by effectively targeting grant-aid to them, and by building a long-term investment fund that will generate income year after year.
