Rosemary Squires OBE'Queen of the Jingles' Rosemary Squires receives the OBE for services to music and charity.
The talented and much-loved Salisbury singer has recorded hundreds of theme tunes, from her very first Fry's Turkish Delight to what is probably one of the most famous and longest running jingles of all time, Fairy Liquid's Hands That Do Dishes.
Britain's answer to Doris Day, Miss Squires has also recorded many songs with major record labels, both here and in America.
Career highlights now span several decades, from an early appearance with Geraldo's band in the '50s to performing alongside the Syd Lawrence Orchestra at Dublin's National Concert Hall earlier this year.
Throughout this time, she has also campaigned tirelessly for several charities close to her heart, including the Royal British Legion and the Soroptimists.
Commenting on her award, Miss Squires, who is married to former Salisbury police chief Frank Lockyer, said: "It's nice to be thought of - I'm absolutely delighted.
"Most artistes do their bit for charity, but that I should be thought of for services to music too, well, that really is an honour. I think I'll leave the dishes in the sink today!"
Miss Squires is currently touring three shows - Dunkirk to D-Day, with English Serenata and broadcaster David Jacobs, Life is a Song, and her new It's The Fifties show with Jeff Hooper.
