THE Stratton Juniors six-a-side tournament opened with a home success at King Edward's Place.

The host club's under nine team won their section with a 1-0 golden goal success against Swindon Soccer Skills B on Saturday.

Jake Simpson hit the decisive goal a stunning solo effort which saw him dribble past three players before slotting the ball into the corner of the net.

Ferndale Rodbourne took the under 11 crown with a 2-0 triumph over Liden Community.

A Ryan Selby penalty and Josh Parsons' strike did the damage in the final.

Eastville were top dogs in the under 13 category.

Goal scorer Chris Avery scored the only goal of the game as they beat Brunel Boys in the showpiece.

Liden were beaten 2-0 by Westbury Youth in the under 15 final with Kieran Stone and Mark Young on target.

Croft Colts led the trophy charge on Sunday with a shootout success in the under 10 competition.

Croft triumphed 3-2 on penalties after a goalless stalemate with Greenmeadow Colts, keeper Alex Swatridge scoring the decisive spot kick.

Trowbridge Town B won a one-sided under 12 showdown, beating Shaw A 4-0. Luke Fisher, Mark Trueman and Tom McKinder (2) scored.

Host club Stratton then ended the festivities in the same style they started them.

Another victory arrived in the under 14 event as Kevin Tait's golden goal saw off Trowbridge Town B.

Toby Dawson and Steve Green had exchanged goals in normal time before Tait sealed a 2-1 win.

Former Swindon star Paul Bodin presented the trophies for this age group, while his ex-County Ground teammate Fitzroy Simpson did the honours in the under eight friendly football festival.
