KINDHEARTED fundraisers have been moved by the Thamesdown Hydrotherapy Pool's tale of woe.

The pool had to close after vandals went on a £10,000 wrecking spree at the site in Jeffries Avenue on Friday.

Now members of the Swindon Rotaract Club, part of the Rotary organisation, have decided to raise money for the pool.

They are taking part in the annual Ridgeway walk run by the Thamesdown Rotary Club on Saturday and have been gathering sponsorships in aid of the hydrotherapy pool.

The walk, which is around 21 miles, is from the Red Lion in Avebury to the Royal Oak in Bishopstone, and the members are hoping to complete it in five to six hours.

The money raised will be presented on the August 6 at the Royal Oak where there will be a hog roast and a jazz band.

Anyone wishing to sponsor them can contact Bruce Boulton, the club's president by e-mailing him at bboulton@ntlworld.com

Rotaract is a social group for adults under 30 and aims to raise money for charity through various activities while having a good time through social activities.

It meets on the second and forth Mondays at the Pattern Store Bar, next to the outlet village.
