CHIPPENHAM'S total of 183-9 at Glastonbury proved to not be enough as the home side won by six wickets.
In the absence of captain Jason Searle it was Richard Bates who skippered the side, won the toss and elected to bat.
Bates opened the batting with Mark Hunt but both were heading back to the pavilion before long.
Bates was bowled by Gareth Andrew for three runs and Hunt was a victim of the bowling of Tom Punchard having made one run.
Ian Merryweather picked up a duck after being caught by Tim Burt off Punchard's bowling.
Jack Humphrys also failed to make an impact as he made only two runs before being bowled lbw by Punchard.
It was Jace Lawson, batting at number five, who finally got Chippenham going.
His partnership with Paul Bates got the runs ticking over on the scoreboard and Bates made 28 before being caught by Rob Travers off Andrew's delivery.
Steve Richard at number eight for Chippenham did managed to get settled in and score some runs. He made 27 before being run out.
It was Lawson who was by far the most impressive batsman for Chippenham as he reached 84 before being caught by Travers off Wesley Durston's bowling.
Travers removed Adam Croutier but Ian Pinchen (5 not out) and Will Couzens (12 not out) did keep the score ticking over as Chippenham finished on 183-9. Punchard was the best of the Glastonbury bowlers as he took three wickets for 11 runs.
Chippenham's bowlers had a tall order on their hands but they started positively and removed both the Glastonbury openers cheaply.
Richard Timms was bowled LBW by Paul Bates for four runs and Steven Spencer only made ten runs before being bowled by Lawson.
But it was Rory Hamilton-Brown, batting at three, and Durston, batting at number four, who proved to be the rocks of the Glastonbury innings.
Durston made 76 before being caught by Richard Bates off the bowling of Couzens. Hamilton-Brown was still going strong when Andrew was stumped off a Couzens delivery for 11 runs.
But Chippenham could not remove the stubborn Hamilton-Brown and his knock of 79 not out, combined with Scott Brown's one not out, saw the home side earn the victory.
Couzens was the pick of Chippenham's bowlers taking two wickets for 32 runs.
