CORSHAM picked up their second successive winning draw when they travelled to Taunton on Saturday.

Taunton skipper Kevin Parsons won the toss and elected to field first.

Peter Dennett and Neil Shardlow opened the batting for Corsham but they suffered an early blow .

It was Corsham skipper Shardlow who was first to head back to the pavilion when he was caught by Kevin Sedgbeer off the bowling of Ben Wellington for four runs.

Kaushik Aphale joined Dennett at the wicket but did not fare much better than Shardlow.

Aphale made eight runs before being bowled lbw by Wellington to leave Corsham on 12-2.

The visitors finally got motoring when Richard Foley came in to partner Dennett and the pair enjoyed a partnership of 99 runs.

Foley contributed 23 runs to the total before he was caught by Simon Taylor off the bowling Peter Sanderson with Corsham on 111.

Dennett was still chalking up the runs but Corsham lost another wicket when Steve Copland was stumped by Taylor off a Sedgbeer delivery for 17.

It was Sedgbeer who eventually accounted for Dennett, who made a superb 82 runs before being bowled.

When Mark Hadrill joined Steve Perrin at the wicket, Corsham were on 178-5.

The pair did well, adding 31 runs to the total before Perrin became another victim of Sedgbeer having reached 47 runs.

Paul Clifford was bowled by Sedgbeer for six and Hadrill was removed by the same bowler for 25 to leave the visitors on 235-8.

Andrew Davis (10 not out ) and Craig Chaplin (5 not out) then took the score to 249 at the end of the allotted 55 overs.

Sedgbeer took the most wickets for Taunton St Andrews finishing with five for 32 runs.

For the second week running Corsham's bowlers were given some room for manoeuvre and they started brightly.

Taunton opener Brian Hoyle was trapped lbw by Clifford for five.

Kevin Parsons then joined Peter Sanderson at the crease and the pair put on 37 runs before Parsons was caught by Clifford off the bowling of Foley for 18.

Sanderson and Keith Parsons also established a decent partnership before Shardlow caught Sanderson off Aphale's delivery for 31.

That left Taunton St Andrews on 93-3 but again Corsham could not find a quick follow-up wicket.

The home side added almost another 50 runs before Keith Parsons was caught by Foley off Chaplin's bowling for 46.

Robbie Rexworthy went for only one run to the bowling of Aphale as Taunton were reduced to 152-5.

But it was Sedgbear who shone the brightest in the home side's innings as he held things together.

Graham Porter fell for eight runs to Foley and Clifford dispatched Wellington and Taylor for two and six runs respectively. Sedgbeer was still going strong but Corsham only needed to remove Paul Short for victory.

But the pair managed to survive and Sedgbeer (63 not out) and Short (1 not out) batted out the 55 overs as Taunton closed on 218-9. The match was drawn and Corsham were awarded ten league points with Taunton St Andrews picking up two points.
