13336/1Year 9 pupils had a Grease-style goodbye at St John's lower school, Marlborough, on Friday.
Catering staff put on a lunch with the theme of the musical Grease to mark the pupils' last day at the school's Savernake building, before they move up to the senior school at the Stedman site.
The staff in the school restaurant were dressed in pink, wore glittery pink wigs, and an American menu was created including hot dogs and American-style salads, served to the soundtrack of the hit musical.
Pupils commented that it was fun to have a bit of a change, and said they liked the theme days but wished they could have seen their teachers in Grease fancy dress as well.
Catering manager Sarah Freeman described how they had various theme days to try and interest the pupils in healthy eating, but this one was a special occasion as it was a goodbye meal for year nine.
She said: "We are trying to get away from standard themes like Chinese or Italian, because we often have that sort of food anyway, and we want to be more adventurous."
The school has recently implemented a meal deal called Simply 123 offering pupils a balanced meal in the middle of the day for a reasonable price.
Ms Freeman said: "It is important to motivate the children to have an enjoyment and interest in healthy eating at the young end of the school, so they will expect high standards, and eat healthily throughout the rest of their time at school."
