GAZETTE & HERALD: Parents and children put their heads together to create water rockets at a family learning day at St Paul's School, Chippenham.
3-2-1 Blast Off! was designed to help parents and children enjoy learning together.
Around 130 people took part in the science project, in which they built rockets from scrap.
Families took part in a race to see which rocket, powered by water and air, would travel the furthest.
Headteacher Bob Buckley said everyone was very enthusiastic about the Saturday morning event.
"Lots of people said how wonderful the day was. The main aim was for children and parents to enjoy learning together," he said.
Families designed a rocket and then searched the internet for answers to a quiz that led them to a password.
Once they used their IT skills to access the password their rockets could be launched.
The event was organised by the Learning Tree, a Lifelong Learning initiative developed at St. Paul's to allow whole families to use the primary school.
Computer classes for parents and carers start in the autumn at St Paul's.
