LOGISTICS company Tibbett and Britten, which has a depot in Swin-don, is the subject of an offer by rival Exel.
Tibbett, which is based in Hert-fordshire and employs 35,000 people worldwide, suffered a drop in pre-tax profits last year after problems in its Americas division.
But recent trading updates were better, and deals with Procter and Gamble, Michelin, Kraft and Kim-berley Clark have brought extra revenue.
In England, Tibbett has major contracts with Debenhams and Arcadia.
Exel is based in Bracknell and said it could save between £15 million and £20 million with the takeover, should it go ahead. It has offered 68p a share more than the 600p price tag suggested by analysts.
Exel would not confirm any details of possible job losses.
Current big Exel contracts include House of Fraser, Selfridges and JD Wetherspoon.
