I am writing in reference to the comments made by Cllr Jeff Osborn about Cllr Steve Squires' reasons to resign from being deputy mayor.
Having known Steve for 31 years, the decision to resign and relocate himself to Cornwall was not an easy one.
He is moving away from friends, family and his job, which to some of us would would be terrifying, but good on him for having the courage to do it.
He did not take his role of deputy mayor lightly and was over the moon to have been appointed, and for Cllr Osborn to say that Steve's decision to resign was an insult to the town is very childish and bitter.
For the last couple of years Steve has put his own feelings aside for others and now was the time for him to say enough was enough and it was his turn to be put first.
There are plenty of people out there that would rather wish him well .
The reason I know all this is because Steve is my brother and I love him and will support him no matter what he chooses to do. His happiness and sanity are much more important than keeping Jeff Osborn happy.
