West Wiltshire MP Andrew Murrison and Bradford mayor Vicky Landell Mills, have paid a visit to the Kennet and Avon Canal to see the results of the recent multi-million pound project that restored it to its former glory.
They began their visit at Bradford on Avon Wharf, where the chairman of the Kennet and Avon Canal Trust, Brian Poulton, told them about the canal's history and recovery from dereliction.
This was followed by a cruise to Avoncliff Aqueduct to find out about the engineering work that took place, mainly funded by a £25 million lottery grant.
On a bike ride along the towpath to Dundas Aqueduct they were told about the rebuilding of the canal channel through the Limpley Stoke valley to Bathampton.
The visit ended with another boat trip, this time to visit the Claverton pumping station.
Dr Murrison and Mrs Landell Mills said they were delighted by the introduction to the canal's leisure services.
