WILTSHIRE students will soon be able to plan the best and cheapest way to get to school.
The Student Transport Advisory Network, believed to be the country's first website giving transport advice to students, shows all public transport serving each school or sixth form.
The new website is designed to help students plan how they get to school or college.
Developed by the Wiltshire Partnership for Post-16 Transport, the website features maps of all buses and trains to schools in Wiltshire.
Students can click on their school to show a map of the transport network serving it.
In the next few weeks links to timetable and fare information will be added to the website.
Alison Lawrence, the county council's education transport policy and development manager, said: "By visiting the website, students will be able to make long-term choices about which colleges and sixth forms they can travel to from their homes and how much it will cost."
Students aged between 16 and 19 can save money on their transport by applying to the county council's post-16 transport scheme. Application forms are available on the STAN website at www.wstan.connectfree.co.uk. There is also a helpline number, (01225) 757575, open 10am to 6pm Monday to Friday.
