15337/1THREE teenage sisters had a narrow escape when their car slammed into a garden wall on Tuesday night.
The girls aged 14, 16 and 17 crashed at 7pm in a field between St Andrews Road and Broxburn Road in Warminster and two were taken to hospital with suspected neck and back injuries.
They were using a racetrack in the privately owned field, which youngsters use to drive cars and motorbikes.
Now local residents, who have already complained about the noise, have said the field must be closed before someone is killed.
The girls' grandfather, Edgar Rogers, said: "They were in the field when the driver lost control and they hit a wall, they are all okay and all had their seatbelts on.
"But I won't let them drive in the field again. This put the wind up me and you think how bad it could have been."
Cllr John Syme has received complaints from local residents about youngsters using the field to drive cars and motorbikes.
He said: "I am not being a killjoy but the responsibility must lie with the landowner and the parents.
"The landowner lives in Wales but now he must close the field and stop this from continuing.
"The field is used for dog walkers and children play there. Someone driving out of control at 40mph through the tall grass might not see a young child and hit them.
"We've had some injuries, next we might have a death."
The two girls injured in the crash were released from Oddstock Hospital in Salisbury with minor injuries on Tuesday night.
l A MOTORIST escaped serious injury on Saturday after a collision with a Land Rover on the A361 at Seend.
At about 12pm the driver of a blue Renault was travelling into Seend when he lost control of the car and veered into the path of a Land Rover travelling in the opposite direction.
The man in the Land Rover 1100 Defender, from Trowbridge, was unhurt, while the other driver was taken to Bath's Royal United Hospital with minor facial injuries, but was released later that day.
The road was partially closed by police but was fully opened again three hours later.
Police are appealing for witnesses and anyone with information should contact PC Small at Devizes police on (01380) 722141.
